New poll finds Kentuckians narrowly favor public health option
The Lexington Herald Leader reports that a new poll found that “Kentuckians by a narrow margin favor a public health insurance option as part of national health care reform.”
Forty-six percent of Kentuckians said they favor "creating a government-administered health insurance option that anyone can purchase to compete with private insurance plans." Almost as many — 45 percent — said they would oppose such a measure, while 9 percent were undecided.
The survey of 600 likely voters was taken August 31 to September 2 and was conducted by Research 2000 and released by the Daily Kos.
Fifty-eight percent of Americans nationwide favor a public option, while 34 percent oppose it, according to another Research 2000 poll released Friday.
