What Kentuckians Think About the Affordable Care Act

The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky has released results from the most recent Kentucky Health Issues Poll, sharing Kentuckians' opinions on the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) that was signed into law in early 2010.  Poll results show that respondents felt most favorably toward these elements of the law:

  • Small business tax credits (82%)
  • Access to preventative services without co-payment (78%)
  • Prohibiting denying coverage for children with preexisting conditions (76%)
  • Closing the Medicare donut hole over time (76%)

Results from the poll also demonstrate the need for additional information regarding the ACA.  Only one in four Kentucky adults (27%) felt that they had enough information about the law to understand how it would affect them personally.
